What is the admission process at the Academy?

Children and young people are usually admitted to Cambridge Park following a consultation process by the Local Authority (LA) or neighbouring authorities. The child or young person will usually have a legal document known as a statement of special educational needs or an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP). If your child has special educational needs and you would like to discuss these needs with the Principal, please call the academy to make an appointment. Parents/Carers are welcome to come and visit the Academy.

Usually, if your child is already attending a school or educational setting, their Head Teacher or Manager of the setting will have explained the statutory assessment process to you, which can result in an Education Health care Plan (previously known as a statement of special educational needs prior to the new Special Educational Needs Code of Practice which came into effect in September 2014). By this stage your child has usually been seen by a number of professionals.

If a place is requested by parents/carers and agreed by the Local Authority (LA), the Academy will invite you and your child to come in and talk to the teacher. Every effort will be made to ensure an easy transfer for your child.
